The turbulator dimensions, material and geometry will be adjusted to suit the tube sizes, flow regimes and temperatures of the application concerned and to offer different heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics. Our correlations enable us to calculate the effect our turbulators will have on the thermal performance of various applications. Yet, in most cases we recommended to test in practice the effect turbulators will have on the efficiency and pressure drop of the application concerned. The conventional turbulator of JD Turbulators is based on the left-right twisted tape design. This turbulator is known to have the best ratio between pressure drop and heat transfer improvement, which makes it the best solution when the amount of pressure drop allowed is limited. The efficiency+ turbulator is based on our proven left-right twisted tape design. Added is a corrugated surface and a shorter pitch, which results in a higher heat transfer-rate when more pressure drop is allowed. Efficiency + turbulators are the best solution for that last extra step of efficiency increase. This turbulator is often used in radiant air heaters with wide pipe diameters.
